Our Goals

Throughout 2023, The Big Bad Project dedicated significant efforts to refining its programs, solidifying its presence within the conservation community, and fostering connections with like-minded individuals.

We are incredibly excited stepping into 2024. This year marks the culmination of our endeavors as we launch a multitude of initiatives and establish new collaborative networks, ready to make a positive impact.

We want to extend our deepest gratitude to The Leiter Family Foundation & The National Wolfwatcher Coalition for their generous support. Their grant funding has jumpstarted The Big Bad Project’s journey in 2024. Their belief in our mission and initiatives, even without experiencing them firsthand, fuels our determination to make a difference.

Our 2024

Start Conversations

We just want to talk about biodiversity, conservation, and preservation without pointing fingers.

Work Together

We believe in the collective strength and power of the pack. Cliché? Yes. True? Also Yes. We are, and have always been, stronger together.

Find Solutions

We know solutions aren't just going to find themselves. It is up to us to find solutions that end up as a win/win for everyone.

The Long Term

Redefining Species Management

We’ve mentioned before, if you’re going to trust the science, that means you trust it. Not just whatever parts fit your narrative.

We believe that current species management plans (not just for wolves) are outdated and rely on only specific types of modeling methods when there are others that researchers and field biologists believe are better options to provide a more comprehensive look at a species.

We call this a “whole data” approach to species management and we are HERE for it.

Conservation Education Integration

We are already hard at work with our Wolves in the Classroom program, providing engaging and memorable classroom experiences and free resources for educators but we have BIG plans for this program.

Our goal is to infuse conservation themes into every facet of education. Learning about coordinate plans in math? We got you covered with our Wolves of the Northern Rockies map (courtesy of Traveling Miss T). We want biodiversity, wildlife conservation, interconnected systems, and human impact on the environment to always be on their minds.
